How to Make Stamped Sugar Cookies
Step 1
Make the sugar cookie dough: Make 1 recipe sand tart cookie dough. Make the dough into a log shape and wrap it with food wrap, so that the dough doesn’t dry out. Chill the dough overnight.
Step 2
Stamp the cookies: Over a floured surface, slice the chilled dough into 1/4-inch slices, roll the dough, and stamp the dough with the cookie stamp, remove the excess dough (you can reuse it to roll more cookies). Place the cookies, 6 to a sheet.
Step 3
Make the egg wash: In a small bowl, combine 1 large egg and 1 tablespoon of water, and whisk together. Brush egg wash over the tops of the cookies and optionally, sprinkle with sprinkles.
Step 4
Bake the cookies: Bake cookies at 350 degrees (preheated oven) for 8-10 minutes or longer for thicker cookies, until slightly golden. When the cookies are done baking, allow them to cook for 5-10 minutes, and then move them to a wire rack to finish cooling.
