How do you respond to Jesus call? ›

Follow Jesus with repentance and faith. We respond to the call of Christ with repentance and faith. Luke 5:32 says, “I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.” Repentance is a word that gets a bad rap.

Lord our God, we thank you that in spite of all the evil, we may look toward the good and toward a change for the better. For your love, your Spirit of love, can be with us. In spite of all that has gone wrong, we can change. Through genuine faith we can become worthy in your sight.

His righteousness is ours if we believe and trust in Him (Romans 3:23,10:9–10). We are called to continuous repentance, to keep turning away from our sin and the false promises of this world, and to turn back to God with all our heart (Joel 2:12).

In the biblical Gospels we see Jesus calling those who will be his disciples. They respond by following him, literally. Today, we also respond to the call of Jesus. We are disciples in response to his initiative. Jesus calls us into relationship with himself and into a life of service.

Prayer of the Day: God, thank You for all the good things You send into my life. Thank You for all the terrible things You don't send into my life. Thank You for the people in my life who help me grow closer to You and become a more thankful person. I pray this through Jesus the Savior, amen.

God calls you to become the person He created you to be, and to do the things He designed you to do. He will partner with you as you prayerfully move forward. This process is a spiritual journey in which you will learn new things about yourself and about your relationship with the Lord! 1.

It means responding in repentant faith by recognizing that Christ is the only way to be saved from the penalty of your sin, which is death. It means believing that when Christ rose from the dead, He conquered sin and death and offers eternal life. If you have never responded to the Gospel, you can today.

If God is calling you to do something, just say “yes”. Step out in faith. Place your feet on the path of obedience, and leave the rest to Him. Just because you said “yes” doesn't mean He's going to leave you to carry out every detail alone.

Discipleship begins with God's call, and our response in repentance as we acknowledge our sin, turn from it, and also realize for the first time that we are the ones Jesus has invited to be part of the kingdom. But “follow me” is also about a relational change, too.
